Holiday Giving Initiatives

Giving Tuesday: December 3, 2024

This Giving Tuesday, make an impact for our non-profit by contributing to our Restoration Campaign. The Restoration Campaign aims to restore and enhance the historic structures of Spring Hill that exist alongside the 1821 farmhouse, that help to tell the holistic story of the site as an agricultural center of Stark County from 1811-1963 and a stop along the Underground Railroad in the early 19th century. So far, thanks in part to contributions and grants, we have restored the 1953 granary barn and fixed the structural integrity of the 1903 milk house. One of our oldest structures, the wool house (circa 1820s) is in need of structural and roof repairs in order to get it opened up to the public. Help us reach our goal of raising $1,000 on Giving Tuesday!

Archival-quality storage supplies are imperative for the safety and long-time preservation of historic artifacts, such as clothing and textiles. Spring Hill has worked diligently over the decades to work towards ensuring every artifact not on display has a safe space to be stored – but it is a costly endeavor.

What is “archival quality?” Archival supplies are designed to be physically durable and chemically stable – Many made with features like barrier board to keep the contents safe from physical damage, and with acid-free materials that will not affect or break down the materials of the artifact. These boxes are made specifically to help keep dust, bugs, and other things that put wear on artifacts out.

Consider adopting an artifact this holiday season to help save a piece of history – It even makes a great gift for history lovers. Each sponsorship corresponds with a purchase of supplies for our artifacts that need it most. The sponsor will receive a photograph and description of the item, and when it is packed up with the appropriate supplies, a tag will be included with the name of the sponsor. Sponsors will also be recognized in our year-end annual report.

For sponsorship of particular items or categories, please leave a note with your contribution or email director@springhillhistorichome.org.
