Archaeology Day

Dig into the past at Spring Hill Historic Home!

Members have the opportunity to join us for a free preview presentation given by the Spring Hill Archaeology team, on the evening of August 7th from 6-8 pm. The public can then join us for Archaeology Day on August 8th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm! Visitors of all ages are invited to get their hands dirty and unearth the secrets of our over 200-year-old property!

This free event will feature an active dig site at the old forge, giving you an opportunity to see archaeology in action. Try your hand at sifting and screening for artifacts and learn proper artifact washing techniques alongside experienced volunteers.

Kids will love the Exploration Station, designed to spark curiosity through hands-on activities. Guests can also enjoy artifact displays showcasing remarkable finds from past digs at Spring Hill. Plus, self-guided tours of the historic home will be available throughout the day.

**Please note: Metal detecting is not permitted at this event. Any artifacts found at Spring Hill will remain the property of Spring Hill Historic Home and Underground Railroad Site. The archaeologist who discovers it will have the opportunity to pose with the artifact and have their name attached to the collection record.**
